Absolutely. Tough to just pick 3. Just sorted my playlists last night and these are what has been spinning most frequently in my ears. I’ll leave it to you to discern and fit them in. I’ll also give you a “bubble” list of what did not rise to the top, but for your own pure listening pleasure.

Yonder Mountain String Band – How ‘Bout You?

These folks hit the Boulder scene around the time I moved to Colorado at the turn of the century. They continue on without Jeff Austin who defined them for many years. Caught them at Lefthand Octoberfest this year and their playlist has been in heavy rotation. Always lots of good mandolin driven cover tunes in their live sets like “Dancing in the Moonlight” & “Sister Golden Hair” which can be found on the You Tube.

Questions (featuring Jakob Dylan & Eric Clapton & Stephen Stills) Echo in the Canyon Soundtrack

Where do I start? Yeah, I got questions. A fresh take on a Stephen Stills & Buffalo Springfield tune. In the everyday media deluge, nuggets appear in my streaming feed. “Echo in the Canyon” on Netflix was one of those nuggets, and not just because I am a big Jakob Dylan fan. Great documentary and great interviews and footage chronicling Laurel Canyon in the 60s. Some of the last footage of Tom Petty talking and fiddling with a Rickenbacher too. Soundtrack is outstanding. I could have picked almost any of the tunes, but Clapton’s “slowhand” fills are so clean and it sounds so good on the headphones. Check out, “Never My Love” cover featuring Norah Jones…also outstanding.

The Seeker (Bonus Track) Buffalo Tom

So I play the freaking hell out of Quiet Peace. Bill Janovitz, over 50, holding down a day job, and still a totally relevant rocker. Longer story, I was just listing to the Broken Record Podcast and it was a conversation between Rick Rubin and Adam Cohen discussing Leonard Cohen’s last album “Thanks for the Dance”. When discussing Leonard’s religious leanings, Adam referred to his father as a “seeker”. Aren’t we all.
