Don’t mind some grammatical errors. Typed this very fast 🙂
It’s a pleasure to share and be part of the Christmas music list for 2019. The time between thanksgiving and new year is something I try to make the best of. It’s a time I cherish travelling around seeing friends and family and catching up. But it’s also a time I think of those that aren’t with me anymore. I don’t find it as sad as I once did, because the memories of years’ past of loved ones make me smile/laugh and shed a tear of happiness. With that said, here is my contribution to Beau’s infamous Christmas/Holiday List. Spreading positive vibes to you all and hoping you have a great holiday season.
SMASHING PUMPKINS – THIRTY-THREE:
I’m a product of 90’s youth and Smashing Pumpkins always holds a special place in my heart. This song reminds me of life’s journey and as we all get older lyrics like, “speak to me in a language I can hear.” reminds of being a misunderstood kid. What resonates lyrically at the end of the song is, “Journeyed here and there and back again, but in the same old haunts I still find my friends.” As an adult this hits home more than in 95, because no matter our path in life we always take a piece of our friends and memories with us.
Two Gallants – Steady Rollin’
“Well, I come from the old time, baby
Where all the kids are crazy
If I remain then I’m to blame
But if you should ever need me
I’ll go where you lead me.”
Great duo out of San Fran with Cash/Americana lyrics combined with some heavy distortion at times. Started in 04-15 they seem to be on a hiatus, which is a shame. Had many a good time at the Unitarian Church, but their show and Title Fight(also disbanded) are the shows that stick out the most from that dank basement.
Butch Walker – Synthesizers
Another great tune from a songwriter I feel needs the spotlight more. Just an upbeat sounding jam i think you will all dig. Reminds me of my daily walk to work when I lived downtown. Bonus the video has Matthew McConaughey dressed as Wooderson and singing the tune. Alright Alright Alright.
